Third phase of polling in 91 Lok Sabha constituencies across the country and 70 Assembly seats in Odisha were concluded today which set the pace of current Lok Sabha election. All the constituencies in Kerala, Haryana and Delhi and 6 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar, 4 in Jharkhand, 9 in Madhya Pradesh, 10 each in Maharashtra, Odisha and Uttar Pradesh and 1 each in Chhattisgarh, Jammu and Kashmir, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Chandigarh and Lakshadweep went to the polls today. Moderate to heavy voting is reported in those constituencies with record voter turnout in Delhi and UP.



2. India’s largest lender State Bank of India has hit the overseas bond market with a dual tranche benchmark issue of 5-year and 10-year maturity to raise up to USD 1 billion. The bank has given an initial pricing of 240 bps over the US treasury for the 5-year money and 265 bps over the treasury for the 10-year bond. The US treasury is trading at around 2.75%.



3. The World Bank projected India’s economic growth rate of 5.7% in fiscal year 2015 due to more competitive exchange rate and many large investments going forward. The World Bank said in its latest edition of ‘South Asia Economic Focus ‘ that bolstered by permanently more competitive exchange rate and progress towards clearance of important investment projects, India may see an acceleration of growth in FY 2014 to 4.8 per cent, further increase to 5.7% in FY 2015. The World Bank President Jim Young Kim also called for necessary reforms to create a better environment and spur growth.
